The building that housed the Municipal Pharmacy in the settlement of Chorio, is a typical example of neoclassical architecture, but also evidence of the remarkable development of the island in the field of health during its heyday (19th century). Its layout is highly functional, to cover all needs. At the entrance there is a fairly large waiting room, which was used mainly for the delivery and storage of medicines in strikingly colored containers. It had a well-equipped laboratory, a first aid station, and a director’s office. It is worth noting that the pharmacy also had a primitive operating room.
