Nanou Beach

Nanou is one of the most beautiful beaches of Symi. From Nanou to Tsagria and Sotiris of Lygi, in the mountainous interior, are preserved remnants of the revetments of the ancient road that connected the harbour to nearby settlements, the so-called “Amaxiki”. According to tradition, the beach was the lair of the “Varvalakkas (vampire) of Nanous”, who frightened fishermen, shepherds and lumberjacks into spending the night inside the church St Panteleemon for protection.
